Gophers are a small furry rat like animal that dig and burrow tunnels just under the surface of your garden and landscape.  Gophers create millions of dollars in damage and can destroy gardens overnight.  If left un-treated they will destroy all the vegetation in your landscape and cause your garden to look like a desert.

As gophers tunnel through your lawn they are looking for roots to eat, if they happen upon your sprinkler pipes they may chew a hole and cause flooding that may undermine the soil.  They create large dirt mounds that destroy the esthetics of your lawn. Below we have included pictures of damage gophers can do in a very short time.

There are a couple of ways to control gophers, the common methods are repellents and gasses, neither of these methods really work.  Repellents have not been proven to work and gasses don't work because the gopher will upon first detection of the gas plug up the tunnel

We use gopher traps.  Gopher trapping works 99.9% of the time and we know the gopher has been removed.

Most of the time gophers are a solitary animal, living in their large tunnel systems alone and defending it from other gophers.  But during the mating season multiple gophers may be found in a single tunnel system.  The mating season in the Southern California area is approximately November to about April.
